1. Look at the following quotation. Highlight or underline the words/phrases that you need to avoid.

"Downlut believes the Brady bill trespasses on the rights of law-abiding citizens, and is therefore inconsistent with the Constitution, because it imposes a waiting period on exercising the right to own guns."

2. Now list below the ideas that you will include.
Downlut believes:
-Brady Bill violates rights given to people by the constitution
-constitution says people have the right to bear arms
-this bill imposes a waiting period on that right

3. Next, set aside the original and write a paraphrase.
According to Downlut's aspect, because the Brady Bill puts a waiting period on innocent citizen's right to purchase and possess guns, it is in violation of the national constitution.

4. Compare your paraphrase with original above.
